Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to: 1. The participant will identify sensory processing difficulties and their relationship to movement and behavior in children with a variety of disorders 2. The participant will analyze postural and movement patterns and their relationship to sensory processing. 3. Through case analysis the learner will be able to identify movement and sensory impairments in children with developmental disabilities and how they affect functional performance. 4. The learner will apply current concepts of NDT, SI, Motor Learning and other approaches to children with various developmental disabilities. 5. The learner will begin to analyze functional performance problems and use clinical decision making regarding when to combine and when not to combine approaches with clients. 6. The participant will understand the use of blending approaches in the context of the child's and family's occupation. 7. The learner will begin to use the evidence to support clinical practice

This course is designed for Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapists who treat children with neuromotor disabilities and or sensory processing problems of all ages. This is an intermediate course and requires that students have some knowledge of SI and or NDT.
This is a 16-hour course equivalent to 1.6 CEUs. CEU approval has been submitted to AOTA and physical therapy licensing boards or chapters of APTA in the states in which the course is held. Motivations, Inc. is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to offer Continuing Education activities in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. This program is offered for 1.6 CEUs (Level; intermediate Professional Area). Description
This workshop will focus on clinical reasoning and problem solving to identify functional movement and sensory processing problems and associated impairments in children with developmental disabilities. Practical tools will be introduced to analyze functional performance problems and appropriate application of interventions. Considerations for blending or not blending approaches such as Sensory Integration, Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Motor Learning as well as other approaches will be discussed. Case studies will be utilized to facilitate clinical reasoning and application of blending interventions to meet the multi faceted needs of children with developmental disabilities.
