Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Describe at least 2 the concepts/ principles behind NDT .
2. Demonstrate 1 facilitation technique for each of the following areas: pelvis, spine, scapula, upper extremity and lower extremity.
3. Demonstrate 1 stretching technique for each of the following areas: pelvis, scapula , upper extremity and lower extremity.
4. Demonstrate the scoot and pre-gait technique.
5. Demonstrate at least 2 techniques for the facilitation of functional activities.
6. Discriminate 3 components of documentation to effectively advocate for your patient.

Description
Some statistics indicate that a stroke occurs every 40 seconds in the US and there are 1.7 million brain injuries that occur each year. This 2 day course will discuss the concepts of the physical care and evidence based principals to create results in clinical interventions based upon NDT concepts for stroke, hemiplegia, brain injury and general motor control issues. Occupational and physical therapists and assistants will find this course to be heavily lab based to provide attendees with skills for immediately use for effective strategies in the clinic. The lab portions will cover movement and function analysis, stretching and facilitation. The pelvis, spine, scapula, upper extremity and lower extremity will be addressed. Functional applications of improvement and carryover of care will be addressed as well as documentation to advocate for a client.
