This 3 day forum will address the cervical spines’ involvement in the production of headaches, migraines, TMJ & orofacial pain, as well as, unexplainable and unresponsive tooth pain, tinnitus/ear fullness, sinus pressure,
visual disturbances, dizziness, vestibular problems,
nausea, radiculopathy, and other perplexing symptom-
ology. Clinical spine experts from around the country
come together to present and discuss their use of cervi-
cal biomechanical therapy in treating these patients. The
growing body of medical research supporting the cervi-

This, the second course in a series of Strategic Orthopedic seminars is designed to “Out-Think” “Out-Maneuver” the most complex cervical and thoracic problems. The American BackPain Center recognizes the wide variety of cervical/thoracic pathologies which require a highly specific, multi dimensional game plan.
As with the lumbar spine (S.O. Course I), a one-of-a-kind, 4 form Documentation System is at the heart of keeping you organized, objective, and scientifically based.
Unlike Course I, a more hands-on approach is needed to facilitate patient self-treatment and implement the 10 treatment strategies (presented in Course I).
Once again, the need to pay strict attention to small DETAILS and to significantly elevate your level of FOCUS is paramount in uncovering the subtle but critical differences in patient presentations. Understanding these differences is necessary to tailor each patient’s treatment program for rapid results.

For more than 15 years, Angelo DiMaggio, PT, Dip MDT, has been employed as a spine consultant by medical centers throughout North America for the purpose of resolving their most complex and unresponsive cases. The combined results show that 52% of these cases experienced a significant or complete alleviation of symp- toms (as determined by the attending clinician). These impressive results provide both the motivation and basis for this course and the entire course series while the successful treatment methods employed provide the framework. You will learn the highly organized examination and documentation system, as well as new “Lumbar
Strategies” which are the key to resolving complex cases. You will be given
clear, consice clinical guidelines regarding ADL and workplace modifi-

Angelo DiMaggio is an internationally known clinician and lecturer who has specialized in
conservative care of the spine for more than 15 years. He has presented at national and international conferences on such spine related topics as Conservative Mechanical Treatment, E.R.Care for Physicians, ManualTherapy, The McKenzie Approach, Research Analysis, and The Treatment of Cervicogenic Headache. Mr. DiMaggio’s specialization in the spine has placed him in the role of author, editor, course developer, research consultant, and clinical consultant. He is past chairman of the board and course instructor for the McKenzie Institute.
Through major medical centers and universities, he has taught more than 350 seminars and workshops for more than 9,000 therapists and physicians. As a clinical consultant, Mr. DiMaggio has spent more than 15 years working one-on-one with therapists and physicians throughout the US and Canada, refining their use of mechanical therapy and resolving each clinic’s most challenging patients. Included are such notable spine centers as the Texas Back Institute, P.R.I.D.E. (Productive Rehabilitation Institute of Dallas for Ergonomics), the Cleveland Clinic, the Fort Worth Back Institute, and the Canadian Back Institute. This highly intensive training format has led to a compilation of the most common

Head pain, migraines, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain have been and continue to be medicine’s most perplexing problems. These problems consistently cause conflict among medical diagnosticians and routinely frustrate clinical practitioners. Because of their evasive and uncertain nature, the clinician attempting to aide headache sufferers has been given little scientific assistance and even less clinical guidance. This course was developed to lend such guidance.
This, the third course in the series of Strategic Orthopedics seminars, is designed to “Out-Think” and “Out-Maneuver” migraine pain. Unlike the previous course, SO III Migraine requires a primarily “hands-off” approach. While SO I and SO II presented the importance of increasing your attention to DETAILS and the need to FOCUS, SO III demands it! Patients presenting with chronic, disabling headaches, migraines of all types, and/or TMJ pain pose the greatest patient challenge for any conservative care specialist. While medical headache clinics and pain specialists pursue chemical avenues of treatment (ie: drug therapies, injections), and manipulative practitioners pursue an aggressive “hands-on” avenue of treatment, we have the unique opportunity to pioneer a new avenue of biomechanical “hands-off” treatment.
The course begins with a detailed analysis of cervical conditions seldom associated with the production of headaches. Pertinent research is pulled together in strong support of a cervicogenic etiology. A highly organized, objective examination and treatment approach will be laid out in great detail with the aide of a procedural algorithm. Finally, actual headache and migraine patients will be examined daily and the treatment procedures will be put to the test. With 4 patients receiving 2 treatments each over just a 24 hour period, you will have a real, first-hand look at the applicability and effectiveness of these new biomechanical treatment strategies. As a result, you will be best prepared to immediately apply them upon returning home. The patient demonstrations will support the contention that the vast majority of headache, TMJ, and migraine patients of all types, have a significant cervicogenic, biomechanical etiology which is highly responsive to a cervicogenic, biomechanical, hands-off treatment approach.

After years of collaboration, two experts in their fields have come together to present the most comprehensive vestibular course yet. Angelo DiMaggio, PT, Spine Therapist, and Mike Secosky, MPT, Vestibular Therapist, have combined decades of clinical work and volumes of current research to jointly present a major paradigm shift in cervicogenic dizziness/vestibular rehabilitation. This shift is the result of a newly discovered sensitivity of cervical structures and recent ground-breaking cervical spine research. Our greater understanding of the cervical spine’s involvement in vestibular problems has resulted in what we now call “Respect the Neck/Protect the Neck” Inner Ear Testing.
Clinical results on several hundred vestibular, migraine, stroke, post-concussive, and tinnitus patients using the new testing procedures reveals the seldom considered horizontal/lateral canal of the inner ear to be at fault over 80% of the time. This change in inner ear testing has led to all new inner ear treatment protocols. You will not only learn the new inner ear testing procedures, treatment protocols, and patient home programs, but also a new application of cervical biomechanics capable of decreasing or abolishing the majority of vestibular patient’s headaches in as little as 1 to 3 visits. Along with lecture and lab, actual vestibular/cervicogenic dizziness/headache patients will be examined and treated to demonstrate the rapid and dramatic results routinely achieved.
This biomechanical examination results in a cervical home program individually designed to control a vestibular patient’s frequently associated headaches. As a result, you will be able to resolve your vestibular patient’s vertigo, dizziness, and balance problems, while also relieving their cervical, head, and facial pain.
